The former Grade II listed Connaught Chapel in St John’s Wood will be developed into five luxury apartments.
The 14,805 sq. ft former Chapel on St John's Wood Terrace has a rich and varied history, serving a multitude of purposes over the years, from offices to event space, television recording studios, and a squash court. Valouran will sympathetically transform this historic landmark into a collection of five luxurious apartments.
With architecture led by Darling Associates, the vision for The Chapel is a meticulous restoration and renovation that honours the building’s heritage while introducing contemporary design and state-of-the-art amenities. Apartments will range in size from two to four bedrooms with interiors that embrace an understated luxury, taking cues from the building’s rich history and focussing on natural and sustainable materials, from beautiful marbles to light timbers.
The project will minimise its carbon footprint by eliminating the use of gas systems, offering residents high-performance mechanical and electrical systems that surpass building regulations requirements and include zero-emission high-efficiency air source heat pumps. The development will boast a rich variety of plants and a wonderful garden, enhancing urban biodiversity and positively contributing to carbon capture. All materials will be responsibly sourced and kept local where possible.
